Burnout. It is a good thing.

Most of us at some point in our lives experience burnout. That inescapable feeling of overwhelm, where we are running on empty. Feeling exhausted, frazzled and completely stressed out.

And I'm here to tell you it's a good thing. Say whaaaaa?

You heard me. Burnout is good.

Because without pushing to our limit, we wouldn't know where our limit is. We wouldn't experience just how strong we can be when the going gets tough.

We also wouldn't know that something had to give. That it was time to change.

Instead we would be floating along in mediocrity and mild discomfort constantly lamenting our situation yet not feeling compelled to do anything to change it. Reality is, we often have to hit the absolute bottom before we cry out "ENOUGH!"

We need to surrender to the feeling of the unknown. It's only in that moment we can accept our whole, imperfect self. The person who doesn't have all the answers. Who is scared. Who may be feeling lonely and isolated. Who is questioning EVERYTHING.

It's in the acceptance of our current state that we can start to take the small steps towards the things that, quite frankly scare the shit out of us, but are vital for our growth.

Accept where you are. It's the only way forward.
